all about our flower farm
growing regenerative flowers in western new york
Heirloom Soul Florals is a 1.5-acre cut flower and foliage farm located in Burt, NY. We also have a private floral studio in Lockport, NY where we use our farm grown flowers to design wedding floral and other joyful floral pieces.
Since 2018, our intention has been to grow the most beautiful, environmentally responsible, non-exploitative products to support the growing local cut flower market.
our business mission
We grow gorgeous flowers to provide the most sustainable source of cut floral products for our community. Our intentional, regenerative growing methods encompass an ecological mindset and we work to provide healthy wildlife habitat and increase biodiversity in both plant and animal life our immediate ecosystem.
We believe that beautiful, meaningful purpose produces beautiful, meaningful work ❤️
why we call this work ‘heirloom soul’
Growing and tending plants using earth-loving, ecological methods is a ritual that is thousands of years in the making. We fondly think on this work as an heirloom tradition that has been passed through our bodies and souls, through countless generations of humanity. The part we play in the legacy of earth tenders is deep and meaningful, and we work to spread goodness with the knowledge we carry in our bones.

inspiration from a hero
“We have the world to live in on the condition that we will take good care of it.
And to take good care of it, we have to know it.
And to know it and to be willing to take care of it, we have to love it.”
- wendell berry
our gentle flower farming methods
As regenerative farmers, we truly believe our flower farm is making a difference in our local ecosystem.
On our flower farm, we blend Regenerative Agriculture & Permaculture growing methods. Our focus is to increase soil fertility, capture & store excess carbon from the atmosphere in our soils, and inspire others to participate in reducing the negative impacts of Climate Change in their own backyards.
We practice no-till, cover cropping, deep mulching, Soil Food Web awareness, natural habitat creation, and we are completely herbicide- and pesticide-free. We let mother nature take care of the bugs and diseases on her own by setting up a regenerative system for natural success.
traditional floristry vs. our floral design approach
The modern floral industry is dirty and earth damaging, and the only people who talk about it are florists that give a hoot.
Flowers are flown in planes overseas and then driven across the country using massive amounts of petroleum just to be delivered to the flower shops. Most of these flowers have been grown using chemicals so bad they’ve been banned in the United States. These harsh chemicals seriously harm the growers who, more often than not, are working too-long hours for not enough pay.
We hate to say it, but it has to be said: Traditional floristry is dirty, earth-damaging business.
Those damaging floral design practices are a choice.
We are a sustainable flower farm & floral design studio. All of the plant waste that comes out of our studio and farm is composted into new earth for our flower farm. We refrain from using harmful bucket cleaners and all other harsh chemicals. Since our flowers have been harvested at peak freshness from our field the morning-of or day before, there is no need for floral preservatives. Most of our floral designs are free from floral foam. We’ve created our own system for floral installations, the structural materials of which are reused over and over again, deeply reducing our waste. We encourage our wedding clients to rent our vases so they may also be reused over and over again, reducing waste in shipping, boxes and bubble wrap. Finally, our indoor seed starting operation and our walk-in floral cooler run entirely on solar power!
Most importantly, our beautiful flowers and foliage are grown without chemicals, with love and care.
Everything we do, we do in respect of future generations on our planet.
When you buy our flowers, you are supporting our commitment to leaving Earth better than we found it. Thank you!
